Plans for hotel in Prinsengracht
In around 2005, it became clear that Amsterdam’s Palace of Justice on the Prinsengracht was to move to a new building on the River IJ. The former Palace of Justice was scheduled to be fully vacated and subsequently sold in 2013-2014.
In the lead-up to the sale, LZI, Veriditas and Monteflore drew up plans to redevelop the palace as Amsterdam’s most luxurious hotel. Architect Hans van Heeswijk created a design that harks back to the building’s original features, including two large inner courtyards.
